Inclusion

The Links Academy inclusion unit at the Woollam Crescent site is predominantly for students in the local educational district who have been permanently excluded from a secondary school, or who are currently not in full time education. Students will access the centre for two hour learning sessions each day, which will predominantly consist of Maths and English, though in exceptional circumstances other subjects may be covered. The lessons are taught by two fully qualified and experienced teachers in a classroom with a high staff student ratio. All work is assessed, and students are fully prepared for their next full time educational place.

An emphasis on functional skills will be taught in both Maths and English for Key Stage 4 students. For some students, work on GCSE topics will be appropriate and taught. Key stage 3 students will follow the same scheme of work full time students do at the Links Academy site on Hixberry Lane.

There are a number of external agencies who will work with our students to help them plan and prepare for their present and future. The centre is very safe and secure for all staff and students, as is the site, providing a good learning environment for all.
